Highlights
El
Alamein is 160 kilometers to the west of Alexandria near the Mediterranean
Sea coast. The town witnessed two World War II
battles, namely; the First Battle of El Alamein
in July 1942 in which Axis was beaten by Allies while the Second
one was in October of the same year during which Allies defeated Axis.
Currently, El Alamein is one of Egypt's touristic
attractions because of its War Museum and cemeteries of Italian,
German and Commonwealth soldiers.
